In order to unlock a Samsung Galaxy Europa i5500 first of all take the SIM out of the phone.

Using the numeric key pad enter the following code

*2767*3855#

Please note that this restores the phone to a factory reset function at which point no network is permanently pocked in.  It also means that any data stored on the phone will be lost so it is worth backing up before you do this.
